About
Trans people face many challenges, including discrimination, violence, and barriers to daily life. Studies show that trans people face issues at work - 27% of trans people have been fired, not hired, or denied a promotion due to their trans identity, according to HRC (US). A large number of trans individuals report difficulty accessing appropriate healthcare related to their transition, including concerns about provider understanding and lack of access to necessary medical interventions - 70% of trans people report being impacted by transphobia when accessing general healthcare services, according to Stonewall UK. A substantial portion of trans people express fear of experiencing physical or verbal harassment in public spaces, with many avoiding certain areas due to safety concerns - 59% of trans women and 56% of trans men reported avoiding expressing their gender identity due to fear of negative reactions (National LGBT Survey, UK). Despite improved acceptance of trans people in society, trans people still face high levels of harassment and discrimination. 51% of trans people have hidden their identity at work for fear of discrimination. Nearly 7 in 10 trans young people have been subjected to death threats at school (Trans in the City, UK).
